Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has successfully overseen a trial for parcel delivery using drones, in partnership with AI-driven logistics firm LODD Autonomous.
The test saw a drone with a robotic arm deliver a package from Al Samha to KIZAD, navigating with high precision, thanks to advanced onboard systems.
Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of the ITC, witnessed the trial during a visit to the company’s headquarters, where he was briefed on the latest innovations in autonomous logistics.
He praised the initiative as a major step toward building a smart and sustainable transport ecosystem in the emirate.
LODD Autonomous also unveiled its hybrid aircraft project 'Hili', designed to carry up to 250 kg over 300 km using vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) technology.
Designed for heavy cargo, it operates without traditional airport infrastructure, promising to revolutionise medium-range logistics.
The ITC says drone deliveries could significantly speed up parcel transport in the future, with potential delivery times cut from days to just hours.
