Dubai Municipality has announced a revised sewerage fee structure, marking the first increase in a decade.
The new fees will be introduced in phases over the next three years and will apply to existing customers who pay sewerage charges within areas managed by the Municipality.
This move is part of Dubai’s broader efforts to support its rapid growth and align with the goals of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on meeting the needs of the emirate’s expanding population.
Under the new structure, sewerage fees for both residents and businesses will gradually rise. Starting in 2025, the fee will be set at 1.5 fils per gallon, increasing to 2 fils per gallon in 2026, and reaching 2.8 fils per gallon by 2027.
Despite the increase, Dubai Municipality said that the new tariffs remain well below the global average, even in cities with similar economic profiles.
The fee hike comes as part of ongoing infrastructure development to accommodate Dubai’s growing population, which is projected to reach 7.8 million by 2040.
The primary objective of this increase is to promote water conservation, support sustainable practices, and build a future-ready urban infrastructure.
