Sharjah has announced the reopening of malls, salons, restaurants and cafeterias from Sunday, May 3.
The Department of Economic Development in Sharjah (SEDD) has directed all shops to adhere to the precautionary guidelines in place to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Commercial outlets will operate between 12 noon and 9:00 pm, while supermarkets, hypermarkets and pharmacies will remain open round-the-clock.
They have been advised to maintain occupancy at 30 per cent, ensure the spaces are regularly disinfected and place stickers to help customers follow social distancing rules.
Shoppers will have to wear face masks and gloves, while those aged above 60 years will not be allowed entry as they fall under the high-risk category.
The authorities have reiterated that regular inspections will be carried out to ensure the safety guidelines are followed.
