Three suspects have been arrested for their reported involvement in the murder of a Moldovan citizen in the UAE, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Sunday evening.
The three arrested are of Uzbek nationality and named as Olimpi Tohirovic (28), Mahmudjun Abdurrahim (28), and Azizbek Kamilovich (33).
The deceased, Zvi Kogan, was reported missing by his family on Thursday, after which an investigation team was assembled. "This led to the discovery of the victim’s body, its identification, arrest of the perpetrators, and the initiation of the necessary legal procedures," the MoI said.
The Director of the Foreign Nationals Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Majed Al Mansoori, was in close contact with Kogan's family to provide them with all means of necessary support, according to a statement released on the Emirates News Agency (WAM). It added Mr. Al Mansoori was also in communication with the Moldovan Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
The Ministry said the UAE and its institutions are fully committed to safeguarding the safety and security of its citizens, residents, and visitors.
It reaffirmed its readiness to implement all necessary deterrent measures to protect social harmony and peaceful coexistence, strictly adhering to the nation’s laws and regulations.
