Two Emirates flights from Greece to Dubai and Newark experienced delays on Thursday following requests for extra security checks.
In a statement sent to ARN News, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed that "flight EK210 from Athens to Dubai returned to stand before take-off, and flight EK209 from Athens to Newark also made an unscheduled return to Athens" due to "security checks requested by the authorities".
The airline added that passengers on flight EK209 have been rebooked to travel on November 11 and provided overnight accommodation.
The Dubai carrier "apologised for the inconvenience caused".
The Greek officials, who were alerted by US authorities to carry out extra security checks, found nothing suspicious on board.
