Student enrollment in two new government-backed 'Dubai Schools' will see an increase after strong demand during the registration period.
That's according to a directive issued by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The two schools launched under the project in Mirdif and Al Barsha have been permitted to increase the initial enrollment target of 800 students to 1,200 for the new academic year.
"‘Dubai Schools’ mission is to arm the next generations of students with the rights tools and skills that will enable them to adapt in an ever-changing environment," said Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of Dubai.
Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), highlighted how "Dubai Schools will be a valuable addition to the diverse educational systems available for parents in Dubai. Underscored by the importance of the longstanding partnership between the public and private sectors, Dubai Schools will help yield distinguished educational models for schools in the future."
Launched in partnership with the public and private sectors, the 'Dubai Schools' project aims to offer Emirati students, and students from other nationalities, access to modern science and technology, at an affordable cost.

Schools across the UAE are set to reopen on August 29, and authorities from across the UAE have adopted various policies to safeguard the school-going population from COVID-19.
Dubai schools, for example, do not require vaccines or COVID tests for students, while parents who enter the premises are required to have both the jabs.
