Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, met with Under Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Xavier Castellanos Mosquera, in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, discussions focused on exploring further collaborations and strengthening the relationship between the UAE and the IFRC, particularly in light of the increasing humanitarian needs in the region and around the world.
The UAE has been collaborating with the Emirates Red Crescent to provide aid to Lebanon as part of the "UAE Stands with Lebanon campaign".
Following the discussion, Al Shamsi said: “The UAE’s steadfast efforts in cooperation with international partners, such as the IFRC, provide urgent relief to people around the world and alleviate critical humanitarian repercussions. This demonstrates the values inherent in all segments of Emirati society, highlighting that the UAE is at the forefront of the countries that provide urgent support for nations and peoples. Through its relief entities, together with its international partners, the UAE will continue to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most.”
IFRC Under Secretary General Mosquera, said: “IFRC is committed to enhancing partnership and collaborations around principles of humanitarian action to provide effective support to those in need, while also promoting sustainable solutions that benefit humanity as a whole and the globe. Strategic collaboration to reach most in need is critical and essential in addressing the urgent challenges we face in today’s world, and we believe that by working together, we can create a positive impact that extends beyond borders in a journey of promoting dignity and respect to people that require urgent humanitarian support.”
The meeting underscores the commitment of both parties to collaborate effectively in addressing urgent challenges and to strengthen their collective efforts in delivering humanitarian assistance to those in need.
