The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel have discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting held at Expo City Dubai, the two leaders reviewed various pathways of cooperation in economy, investment, development, renewable energy, and sustainability sectors.
The meeting also touched on the significance of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), which kicks off on Thursday at Expo City Dubai, as well as the importance of a shared vision towards supporting developing economies to address global challenges.
Sheikh Mohamed and the Cuban President exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
They also witnessed the exchange of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the UAE and Cuba in key areas, including investment promotion and protection, preventing double taxation, technical cooperation in environmental protection, physical education, sports, tourism, and an international governmental agreement between the Central Banks of the UAE and Cuba.
The exchange of MoUs and agreements was conducted on behalf of the UAE by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and on behalf of Cuba by Norberto Escalona Carrillo, Ambassador of Cuba to the UAE.
