UAE expresses solidarity with DR Congo over plane crash

The UAE expressed its solidarity with the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Saturday following a plane crash that killed 17 people in the west of the country.

The aircraft crashed in Kenge, the capital of Kwango province, on Friday while travelling from Kikwit to the capital Kinshasa. It had developed a technical problem and was attempting to make an emergency landing.

Those killed included two senior military justice officials and other members of an official delegation returning from a mission in Kikwit. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the crash.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
