Cyclone Chapala may have no direct impact on the UAE. The storm that is gathering in the centre of the Arabian Sea and has already impacted parts of Oman, may have no effect on the Emirates according to the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology. Officials at NCMS say that a strong high pressure system on land and the upper atmosphere extending from north east Iran and Pakistan as well as the east Caspian Sea will make it difficult for the tropical system to head towards the Emirates. Satellite images by the NCMS also show the tropical storm is moving towards southern coasts of Oman and Yemen and possibly reaching the Gulf of Aden by tomorrow, November 2.
