Al Ain have won the Pro League Cup after they overcame Shabab Al Ahli 5-4 in a penalty shootout at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Goalkeeper Khalid Eissa was their hero, saving Abdulaziz Haikal’s penalty, after the sides were deadlocked 2-2 after 90 minutes.
Shabab Al Ahli had taken the lead in the first half but the Garden City side hit back with two goals after the break, before Shabab Al Ahli forced the match to penalties with an equaliser nine minutes from time.
It's the second time Al Ain have lifted the trophy, their previous win coming in the 2008/2009 season.
Meanwhile, UAE Pro League Chairman Abdulla Naser Al Jneibi expressed his deepest thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for attending.
Al Jneibi also hailed the turn-out of UAE football fans in general and both teams' fans in particular.
