More than 1 billion people watched the 2014 World Cup final between Germany and Argentina. That’s according to new figures released by FIFA, which also show the match had an "average in-home global audience" of over 570 million. The research covers television audiences at home and people watching in public spaces, but not online viewers and mobile phone users. FIFA also reported record viewing figures in the US, but observed a decline in the Asian market due to the less favorable kick-off times.
